Securing a project concerns the intellectual and material assets produced by the team and which must be protected. To measure the extent of the security efforts, one must begin by comparing the current level of protection (Soleau envelope, reports, patent, etc., as illustrated on the left of the diagram below) with the nature of the assets in question (see explanations below):

This nature, represented by the radar on the right of the above diagram varies according to 1/ the origin of the heritage, from an original result of fundamental research or a transfer of an existing technology (vertical axis), and according to 2/ the number of actors who share this heritage (horizontal axis).
As a general rule, efforts to secure a project will be all the more important the more the intellectual property is shared and/or its origin comes from a highly technical and/or competitive environment.
